Sleek
The keyboard (RK R87PRO) is really good . The typing experience is very good. It is definitely worth the price. I recommend this keyboard to everyone who is looking to buy a mechanical keyboard under 5k.
I have purchased RK R87 PRO from genesis pc and this is my second mechanical keyboard(my first one was cosmic byte firefly blue switches). I will honestly tell you the jump from that keyboard to this one is insane.
The keys in this keyboard feel buttery smooth. It gives a smooth and creamy experience while typing. Your fingers will literally glide through the keycaps. Key caps quality are good (double shot PBT) which does not wear off easily as compared to ABS ones (my previous keyboard had it).
The main reason for good sound and thocky feel is it's five layer foam padding in the gasket mount structure which is pretty good.
Volumne Knob is removable and it has QMK/VIA support which gives us liberty to customize as much as want. No need to download any third party app which is a massive W for me.
Since the keycaps are double shot PBT, the RGB is not pass-through to it, which is a little bit disappointing for someone who is a big fan of RGBs, but honestly for me it looks good without that and I mostly turn off RGB to feel the retro vibes.
Overall Summary: This keyboard is worth every penny you purchase. You can prefer it over Aula F75 (if low on budget). It has almost same specs to the Aula one and does not compromise on anything.
It was either this keyboard or Razer BlackWidow V3 Tenkeyless. Wasn't sure Razer lubed all their switches. Saw teardown videos of this keyboard to confirm it was all lubed up.
It's got some heft. I think it's sound profile falls near the thocky end of the scale. The space bar has considerable resonance on the MDF tabletop of my desk. That led me to order a felt KEEBMAT™. Backlight is on the PCB. Not the switches. Legends on the keycaps aren't shine-through. I intend to learn typing without looking at the keyboard. So the backlights serve only an aesthetic purpose for me. Preprogrammed key combinations offer limited control of the backlights and sidelights. The VIA web interface gives complete control of the backlights but not the sidelights. The knob is also well built and offers stepped control of volume out of the box. I guess it can be remapped to some other function from VIA. The button on it required more force to actuate than I would like. I have loudness equalization enabled on Windows and don't see myself using the knob in the future. So I have replaced it with the Pause key using one of the four spare switches and the keycap that comes bundled with the keyboard. There's a keycap-switch puller tool as well.
The Razer keyboard would have costed 500 less. But this keyboard is totally worth it for me.
